Things to do in Kazakhstan:
In my travel to Kazakhstan, I was met by an old friend of mine named Asylbek. Before I came to the large and remote country, he told me that his country was beautiful and plentiful. He was right. I spent the majority of my time in the new capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.
In the capital there many great sites to visit and many of them were constructed recently. The presidential palace, the Baiterek Tower, and the Peace Pyramid are among the sites to visit in the president's sandbox. I call it this because of all the construction happening as the result of the president's decision to move the capital. Much of the city reminds me of what you would see in a post-WWII movie in Warsaw. Poor, old, and sad. However, in locations where they draw tourist, including by the Isha River, there is spectacular architecture. I would have great runs along the river during the daytime.

The citizens of Kazakhstan are the nicest people that I have ever come across. Nice and respectful, very to themselves. We had a great time at a nightclub, everything seems very safe.
Kazakh adventures:
Try driving in the country and especially the city of Astana. Overall, there really isn't any extreme sports in Kazakhstan. Very little outdoor adventure is set up for public use.
Where to stay in Astana, Kazakhstan:
In the capital, all is expensive. Plan on paying $60 a night to be in a hole. I suggest paying quite a bit to get something nice. Definitely book on line.
Kazakh travel tips:
Like noted above, do not drive in Astana. They drive worse than they do in Mexico. There are torn up roads from construction. I did not see or here about any crime. They have made the city of Astana very easy to travel for tourists.
