Things to do in Santorini, Greece:

Santorini has the most impressive natural beauty of any place I have every traveled. The number one thing to do in Santorini is go to the majestic beaches around the entire island. There are red sand, black sand, and white sand beaches to choose from. The nature remains largely untouched by visitors and you would be surprised by the lack of commercialization. Santorini, as well as many of the Greek Isles and much of Greece have kept their uniqueness.

My traveling buddy and I took a bus to check out the "world famous" sunset at Oia. We waited, waited, and waited for the sun to go down and finally. It was amazing. Not only the fact the the sun was the pinkest/reddest I have ever seen it, but the vastness of the sea and the rocky cliffs and amazing architecture on the side. Truly amazing.

Restaurants in Santorini are not plentiful just as tourism is not plentiful. However, you fill find sufficient restaurant choices at popular beaches. Gyros and other Greek ethnic food stack the menu. You will not find McDonalds and Burger King here!

Where to stay in the Greek Isles:

When you get off the boat that takes you to Santorini, you will be approached by several different groups of people or individuals to take you to hotels offering you great rates. They show you pictures. Chances are, these people representing hotels are legit. We found our hotel this way. For only $20 a night we were able to land a really nice room in a great location. A ride to and from the boat dock was included.

Santorini travel tips:

Ferries from Athens (the capital of Greece), are very inexpensive, under $60 to pretty much any Greek isle. Busses on the island of Santorini. Roads are quite curvy but driving on this island seemed to be okay.
